Arc Raiders' developers

Arc Raiders' developers were inspired to move from a free game to a $40 one by Helldivers 2: "We do not want the price of the game to be an offender to someone."

Patrick Soderlund of Embark Studios says arc raiders keys for sale was priced at $40 because the team took inspiration from Helldivers 2 in deciding on that price.

Originally Arc Raiders would have been a free to play game like The Finals. But during development Embark Studios changed their mind and decided it should be a paid title. Arc Raiders, which may be controversial for some, has consistently been the top-selling premium title on Steam since its release. The game is estimated to have reached 12 million sales.

Soderlund explained to GamesBeat, via PC Gamer: "It was something we discussed when the game transitioned from free-to play to a conventional business model. We basically looked at Helldivers and some other games and said, "OK, this is where we want to be." He says "whether it was the right [decision] or not, one can argue."

He says: "I like that the price is reasonable and that people are able to come in and play the game." But outside of that, the team did have a good reason to not go with the typical premium game price. Soderlund says: "We had no campaign, so decided to avoid the price being an issue for anyone." We want people to feel that it is worth the 40 dollars.

"I hope, given the amount of time people spend in this game, that they feel we've provided value for money. Soderlund continues, "That's what we want to achieve." And given the recent success of Arc Raiders, I'd have to say it was a good decision.

mmoset Arc Raiders Trigger Ndes are so powerful in PvP it's a miracle they have survived. Embark, however, is finally planning nerfs

Trigger Nades have made Arc Raiders PvP feel more like enduring artillery than shooting. Embark Studios, the developer, has said that after months of dominance it will finally be looking to tone these down.

"The team is investigating some nerfs such as Trigger Nades. Keep an eye out for game-announcements to get updates!" The response is a separate one.

Lily hasn't specified how Trigger Nades are going to be changed. Instead, we should wonder what form the inevitable nerf across PvP and PvE will take.

Trigger Nades cause less trouble in PvE. They can provide an alternative to Heavy Fuze Grenades in certain situations. The Arc don't seem to be complaining on Reddit. And if they did, it would probably be about Wolfpack grenades. "I'm telling ya, you can't dodge these things!"

PvP has a whole other story. Trigger Nades have a better performance in every major category compared to other explosives. As they can be detonated immediately, unlike grenades such as Snapback or Heavy Fuze, their fuse is shorter. Trigger Nades allow you to manipulate the situation by throwing them in an arc.

Trigger Nades appear to have an identical damage radius and deal slightly more than Heavy Fuzes. This is a bit confusing. Due to the lack of a red glow, which most grenades emit to warn you that explosives are approaching, Trigger Nades can be harder to spot and respond to. Trigger Nades can be placed ahead of time, then detonated when someone passes by. But they are usually used as projectiles that explode on contact.

Trigger Nades, as if this weren't enough to make them cheap is that they are easy to craft. Trigger Nades require only crude explosives that are readily available and uncontested processors.

In fact, it's quite surprising that something as powerful, plentiful and, frankly, meta-warping, has remained unchecked so long. Trigger Nades have always felt unfair to me. The impending nerf should level out the PvP while not removing them from PvE.
