- Vehicle must be a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) noted on the HOV Eligibility list at the time of purchase *. See a list of eligible plug-in lorries here.
- Vehicle can be purchased or leased.
- Vehicle needs to remain registered to the applicant in California for a minimum of 20 months.
- Vehicle must be presently signed up to the candidate's PG&E domestic service address.
- If approved, the rebate check will be sent by mail to the address listed on the vehicle's registration card.
* Hydrogen Fuel Cell automobiles and Compressed Gas vehicles are not qualified.

Applicant Eligibility
- Application must be successfully submitted within 180 days of the date of EV purchase or lease.
- Applicant needs to be an active PG&E property electric customer. PG&E gas-only property consumers who get electrical service from a municipality are ineligible for the refund. The service account does not have to be in the applicant's name to apply.
- Each PG&E consumer and each domestic household might receive just one PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate per qualified car

REBATE PLUS OPTION
Customers who satisfy the PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate program requirements and are income-qualified might be qualified for the Rebate Plus option of $4,000.
If an applicant satisfies all other program requirements and certifies under Eligibility Scenario 1 or Scenario 2 listed below, they may be eligible for the Rebate Plus option. Eligibility Scenario 1: Enrollment in a Qualified Public Assistance Program

- Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
To certify, the applicant's name need to match that of the individual enrolled in the qualified public support program and the evidence of registration need to be dated within 12 months of the application submission date. Applicants listed as a dependent on their evidence of public support documents are not eligible for the Rebate Plus choice. If a candidate is under the age of 18, extra documentation will be requested to verify dependency status.
* Applicants with applications and supporting files submitted on or after June 13, 2023 might get approved for Rebate Plus by supplying their Drive Clean in the San Joaquin Replace Program approval letter that confirms their verified household income is 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the candidate's county.
** Applicants with applications and supporting documents sent on or after May 22, 2025 might qualify for Rebate Plus by supplying their Bay Area Clean Cars for All Program approval letter.
Eligibility Scenario 2: Income Verification
If the applicant's home satisfies the yearly gross earnings limits for their home size and the county in PG&E's service area where the applicant lived when the vehicle was acquired or rented, the applicant may receive the Rebate Plus alternative:
Household size includes the taxpayer( s) and any individuals who are claimed as dependents on one federal earnings tax return. A tax home may include a spouse and/or dependents. Individuals who reside at the service address however who are not listed on the applicant's submitted tax return will not be consisted of in the "family size" for refund purposes.
Household earnings is figured out by evaluating IRS tax return records.
